Three Sided 68H Gas Fireplace
The Three-Sided Statement Piece Six feet of fire, visible from almost every seat in the room. Who it’s for In an open floor plan, the kitchen, the dining table, and the sofa all share one big room—and a standard fireplace faces only one of them. You need a fire you can see from every seat . If your great room needs a centerpiece that works from three directions—a peninsula wall, a room divider, the end of a long sightline—the Ortal Three Sided 68H is built for exactly that. Choose a single-sided unit instead and the fire serves one zone while the rest of the room looks at a wall. Quick facts Viewing area: 73 3/8″ wide and 21 5/8″ tall, with glass on three sides Fuel: natural gas (propane conversion available) Controls: handheld remote with thermostat, timer, and programmable modes; app, puck remote, and wall switch options What makes it special The fire sits behind glass on three sides, so it reads as architecture instead of a box in the wall. Ortal’s frameless design lets your tile, stone, or plaster run right to the edge of the flame —no metal border, no louvers. From the kitchen, the table, or the couch, you’re looking at fire, not at a fireplace. The wall above stays cool enough to hang a TV or artwork directly over the fire —no mantel required. And because the 68H is a high-glass model, it comes with internal lighting you can dim from the remote, so the logs stay lit even when the flame is off . The remote does the thinking: set 70 and the thermostatic mode holds the room there on its own, the eco mode cycles the flame up and down around your set temperature, and the program mode has the fire going before you’re out of bed. Possible downsides The internal lighting requires the AC power adapter, so this model will not run during a power outage. It ships configured for natural gas; running it on propane requires a dealer-installed conversion kit. The first 12 hours of burning cure the paint and leave a white film on the glass; your dealer cleans it off after the break-in period. If you want the fire visible from every seat in an open floor plan, the Three Sided 68H is the right decision. The room it anchors becomes the room the house lives in. Choose from five included log sets—standard, weathered driftwood, refractory clay, and short or long English logs—or move up to bonfire, campfire, or aspen media, add charred branches in black, grey, or white, pick the protective screen or double glass front, and finish the firebox with a black reflective interior.
