If you’re building or remodeling and the fireplace wall is the wall, the Ortal Front Facing 60 is the one—choose a standard-width unit instead and the wall will always be bigger than the fire on it. The fire looks like part of the architecture, not something installed in it, and the job ends with your finish material, which our team walks through at the in-home preview. Ortal’s Passive Cool Wall Technology keeps the space above the fire cool, so a TV or artwork can hang right above it . The fireplace wall gets to be the media wall, the gallery wall, or both. Possible downsides The double glass version requires household power —along with any unit adding interior lighting—and won’t operate during a power outage; the protective screen version without add-ons can run on batteries. Interior lighting and the black reflective interior are optional add-ons , not included on this model. If you want the fire itself to be the design of the wall, the Front Facing 60 is the right decision. The room it’s in becomes the room the house lives in. The Front Facing 60 comes with your choice of a protective screen or double glass front and five included log styles—standard, weathered driftwood, refractory clay, and short or long English logs—with bonfire, campfire, aspen, charred branch, and single-branch sets, a black reflective interior, interior lighting, and a propane conversion available as options.
